Unlike land based plants, aquatic plants take nutrition in through both their leaves and roots.  Also important is the fact that certain minerals especially iron and potassium can only be absorbed by the root system.  A deficiency of iron or potassium results in the leaves loosing their colour or yellowing and in many cases the plants can die.  

 For pond plants, an excellent liquid food is Interpet Flora Boost, like any other type of plant, pond plants need feeding and this is a unique formulation that provides the missing nutrients that pond plants require, together with Plants Alive Grow Tabs, your pond plants will flourish.

 For aquarium plants or pond plants we highly recommend our own Plants Alive grow tabs which are slow release food (lasts up to 2 months) which fulfils the needs of root nutrition and results in not only faster growth but also much more lush growth.  One tablet per plant or bunch of aquarium plants recommending when planting. For pond plants, one tablet under each plant is sufficient.

 Also recommended for root feeding aquarium plants is Tetra plant Crypto tablets and Red Sea Flora Root,  for aquarium plants that feed through their leaves try Red Sea Flora Gro and if in doubt then use both methods.  Aquarium plants also need other nutrients apart from fertilizer, for example iron which can only be absorbed through the roots.  We therefore suggest that a combination of liquid nutrients and substrate additives be used to maximize aquarium plant growth and conditions. It is always advised to check levels of iron & carbon dioxide: the two most critical concerns for keeping live aquarium plants healthy, we would recommend the Red Sea Plant Lab for this.
